[inter]National Scrapbook Day – Blog Hop Freebie & Giveaway!

This weekend is [inter] National Scrapbook Day, which means there are lots of fun things going on in the scrapbooking world. To celebrate this awesome day, the Design House Digital designers have created a super cool collaboration kit called Retrospect.

Here is a little peak at this awesome kit:

DHD-RetrospectiveCollab-iNSDfreebie

This kit is packed with digital goodness. And the best part? You can get it for FREE!! Yep, that’s right, FREE! All you have to do is follow along on the DHD blog hop to grab the coupon code, enter it in at Design House Digital and then download it at your convenience. If you are coming to my blog first…then head on over to the beginning of the blog hop.

I have some awesome giveaway’s for y’all, but first I thought I would share a little bit about inspiration. Where do you get your inspiration for your scrapbook layouts? Do you go to sites on the web? Look through your favorite magazines? Here are a few of my favorite websites that I go to for inspiration:

  1. Designspiration.net » I love this website. The design of the site is clean and doesn’t distract from the content. What I love most is the trending categories—I could spend all day looking through all of the different design projects that have been posted there.
  2. Dribble.com » This portfolio site is packed full of graphic design work from designers all over the world. On this site you can explore by category tags and even by color. I love looking at the magazine spreads and web layouts here, and they make for a great starting point for scrapbook page layouts.
  3. We Love Typography » A website dedicated to typography—can’t get much better than this! This a great resource for examples of beautiful typography and is my go to website when creating word art or a title for a scrapbook page.
  4. Shimelle.com » This blog is full of layout inspiration. Lot’s of tips and tricks, challenges, giveaways and scrapbooking beauty. The focus of the website is on traditional paper scrapbooking, but I love Shimelle’s style and think that it translates well to digital.

Those are just a few of the places that I go to when I am feeling a need for inspiration, or if I just want to look at something pretty. I hope y’all enjoy them as much as I do! now onto the fun stuff…

To make the celebration of iNSD even sweeter, I have a fun contest/giveaway here with THREE prizes!

What I love most about digital scrapbooking is not using up any of your supplies. Plus it is so easy to make corrections.

  2. 2

What fabulous prizes Erica! What I love most about digital scrapbooking is how easy it is to change when you change your mind. No adhesive remover for my oopsies. Plus, I can use my kits over and over and never run out of paper or an embellishment.

  3. 3

What generous prizes, I love the hoodie!
The thing that I love the most about digi-scrapping is that it keeps me in touch with my family and allows me to really celebrate all of the little moments as well as the big ones. I live an 8 hour drive from my family, so when they send me pictures I can spend the love and time creating pages for me and them that I will have forever. My finished projects are all set up to rotate on my computer screen so that even though I am miles away, I can see them all everyday. :)

    Hi Erica,
I discovered digital scrapbooking about a year ago. I had so many photos on my hard disk and I felt so limited by the regular photobooks that you can order through different websites. You have to use templates (I don’t really like templates) and you never have the papers or embellishments that you really want. Discovering digital scrapbooking has changed so much. Not only do I have a purpose now for my pictures, that are finally going to be printed, but I have a chance to do something extra with them. Also, scrapbooking makes me relive the places I’ve seen, the things I’ve done … I have never done traditional scrapbooking, but I wouldn’t want to try it. Digital scrapbooking offers so many possibilities. You can alter the colour of your pictures, of your embellishments, try out so many different things without ruining your paper stash… possibilities are practically endless!

Hi Erica! the best thing about digital scrapbooking is that you can make mistakes and correct them. you can use and resize different papers of elements. But I also still like to traditional scrap. But every time I do that, I often think…oh digital scrapbooking is sometimes so much easier to do! ha ha ha. Thanks for the sites you linked. My favorite art activity was collage, but then I got a chronic illness that means I spend a LOT of time in bed. It was too unwieldy to try to get all my boxes of art supplies in here with me. :) Then I discovered that in addition to being able to connect with me with people all over the world, I was overjoyed to realize that my laptop could also be used for collage! Only here it’s called digital scrapbooking! It’s so great to be able to make art even when I can barely move.

What do I like best about Digital Scrapbooking? The answer is at your Shimelle blog spot (I just checked it out) Their challenge 16 http://www.shimelle.com/ was to use up all your odds and ends and scraps and pieces and all that crap that winds up all over he house. LOL! Digital doesn’t have any of that stuff. :)

I love a lot about digital scrapbooking…the ability to change photo sizes easily…the ability to write and put titles on top of pictures…the lack of “stuff’ to store on real shelves…I am much more creative with digital and there are so many thing you can do digitally that are impossible to do the paper way…
